Junior Systems Administrator
The Junior Systems Administrator will assist in the implementation, management, maintenance, and monitoring of the IT infrastructure. This role involves supporting the senior systems administrator in ensuring the smooth operation of the computer network, both locally and in the cloud. The Junior Systems Administrator will also help in troubleshooting and resolving system issues, performing routine backups, and maintaining proper documentation of the IT infrastructure. This role will also provide support to our user help desk. This position is hybrid, requiring both in-office and remote work, and will involve occasional travel to our offices near Tuscaloosa, AL or our data center co-location facility near Norcross, GA.
Principal Accountabilities
- Assist in the installation, configuration, and maintenance of network and server equipment.
- Support the management and monitoring of virtual server and storage environments.
- Provide support for workstation installation, configuration, and maintenance.
- Help implement and maintain cybersecurity systems and protocols.
- Perform routine system monitoring and analysis in environments such as vSphere/VMware, Windows Server, and AWS Cloud.
- Assist in performing network, server, appliance, and database backups.
- Support the management and maintenance of the Microsoft Windows Server and Office 365 environment.
- Help manage user accounts and permissions in Active Directory and Azure AD.
- Maintain documentation pertaining to the network and server infrastructure.
- Assist in management of IT asset management systems
- Assist in troubleshooting hardware, software, network, and operating system issues.
- Assist in resolving escalated user technical support issues.
A Qualified Candidate Will Have the Following:
- Bachelor’s degree with emphasis in computer science or information systems or equivalent experience.
- Working knowledge of Windows, Linux, and Cisco operating systems.
- Basic understanding of LAN/WAN/VPN networks.
- Familiarity with hardware configuration and troubleshooting.
- Ability to work independently or as part of a team.
- Willingness to stay updated with latest IT technologies

Business Analyst (looking for 2 qualified candidates)
Directly responsible for advising the management and staff of 10 to 15 municipal corporations (Member cities) on financial, market and regulatory matters pertinent to the successful operation of the Member cities’ natural gas distribution systems. Assigned duties shall include, but not be limited to financial and economic analysis, energy rate analysis, solutions development and implementation assistance, competitive situation assessments, formal report writing and presentations, conduct agency negotiations, conduct feasibility studies, strategic planning, and conduct other special projects. This position reports to a Regional Manager or the Manager, Member Support East or West.
Principal Accountabilities
(1) Financial & Economic Analysis – Prepare and present budget forecasts to Member cities. Monitor and advise Member cities regarding financial performance of the natural gas enterprise. Prepare and present retail rate studies and assist Member cities in matters of rate design. Maintain, analyze and report on volumes consumed, related costs and revenues, and advise Member cities of significant budget implications.
(2) Industrial Customer Support – Advise and assist Member city management in attracting, maintaining and retaining industrial customers. Provide economic analysis, competitive assessments, rate design assistance, risk management program information, monthly billing notification, contract negotiation and administration. Coordinate with Gas Authority Operations department, Member cities, and their industrial customers to manage industrial interruptions and daily gas purchases during periods of pipeline restriction.
(3) Communication – Responsible for communication with assigned Member cities through Annual Membership Meeting, Regional Meetings, individual city meetings, oral and written reporting requirements, and as-needed regulatory and other informational memorandums. Manage relationships between the Gas Authority and Member cities. Conduct city council/commission work sessions and make presentations to elected officials as necessary.
(4) Knowledge Resource – Keep abreast of regulatory proceedings, rate design philosophies, new services being offered in the industry, commodity price trends, pipeline capacity values, alternate energy values, and other competitive issues that could impact Member cities. Communicate such knowledge to others within and outside of the organization.
(5) Pipeline Rates & Regulatory Support – Assist in economic analysis of proposed regulatory changes affecting Member cities. Assist in the development of economic and financial exhibits, monthly reporting, and testimony for Member cities that may have customers regulated by the state or interventions in coordination with Washington legal counsel for Federal Energy Regulatory Commission (FERC) proceedings. Assist in communication of proposed changes and impacts with Member cities.
(6) System Planning & Special Projects – Assist Member cities in developing strategic plans for their natural gas systems. Participate in the development, reporting and presentation of feasibility studies for system expansions and special projects including recruiting new Members. Assist Member cities with the economic evaluation of costs, benefits and risks of new business development.
(7) Travel – Requires 25-35% travel to assigned Member cities to support rate, marketing, regulatory and other communication activities.

Market Development Representative
The Market Development Representative is responsible for assisting Member municipal natural gas systems in the marketing and promotion of natural gas utilization in a specific region. Activities include planning, setting objectives, and the development of programs such as rebate and financing programs and effective communication plans. Programs, projects, and services focus on assisting and interacting with key partners in the gas appliance supply chain (i.e., property developers, builders, Plumbers, HVAC dealers, appliance retailers, engineers and architects, and retail customers) to promote the utilization of natural gas applications and services. Market focuses are the residential, commercial and agriculture markets and includes educating customers and key partners on the benefits of natural gas. In addition, assisting in the development, utilization, and promotion of other Gas Authority services including Natural Gas Connection, the Emerging Technology Program, and Customer Growth Planning as requested by Members. Sales skills and interpersonal skills are critical for this role. This position requires a willingness to develop an understanding of natural gas applications and some business background. It will include training in energy and municipal rates & analysis, and gas applications. The Market Development Representative position supports Member cities and serves multiple Member accounts.
Principal Responsibilities:
- Develop Critical Relationships – Develop and maintain business relationships with Member city personnel, and key regional customer groups, i.e., developers, builders, contractors, distributors, regional associations, consumers, agriculture.
- Communicating the Benefits of Natural Gas Applications – Develop an understanding of residential and commercial natural gas applications to promote natural gas among key customer groups and partners.
- Municipal Government – Work with key municipal government leaders, officials, and staff, and communicate the benefits of utility programs and natural gas projects
- Energy Marketing Programs – Assist in the development and execution of utility residential energy programs [rebate, special rates, promotions, communications & advertising]
- Natural Gas Line Extension Projects – Assist in communicating the results of natural gas line extension project reports to all key stakeholders
- Report preparation – Assist in the preparation & development of marketing program and project reports for Member cities.
- Reporting – Communicate regional results to Member cities and Gas Authority, present Member and regional results about specific projects or programs in oral format and written reports and presentations.
- Team Contributions – Work in cooperation with regional team members to achieve regional goals; attend and participate in regional team meetings and organizational meeting.
- Travel – Travel is required to perform job duties; minimal overnight.

Regulatory Compliance Analyst
The Regulatory Compliance Analyst position is directly responsible for communication and support of a defined list of up to 20 municipal corporations or Master Meter Operators (Subscribers) of the Subscribed Regulatory Compliance Service (SRCS), which is conducted in accordance with 49 CFR Parts 191, 192 and 40/199, and Georgia, Alabama, and Florida Public Service Commission Regulations, and is made available on a subscription basis to all Member and non-Member municipal natural gas systems in Georgia and selectively in other states, as well as certain Master Meter Operators. Certain components of the service are also available to gas construction contractors. Responsibilities of this position include program execution for gas operators and contractors, communication and administration of regulatory compliance programs, and compliance assistance.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Records Management – Assist in administration and execution of standardized, centralized, web-based records system for the purpose of demonstrating each subscriber’s compliance with applicable sections of the Pipeline Safety Code and related regulations. Assist defined group of Subscribers with initial setup, training, data entry and retrieval in SRCS database.
- Operator Qualification – Assist in administration and execution of centralized, web-based Operator Qualification program developed by the GMA Gas Section including facilitation of training, testing, and program updating. Assist defined group of Subscribers with initial setup, training, data entry and retrieval in Gas Section database.
- Report Preparation – Assist in administration and execution of program for preparation of reports required by state Public Service Commissions and the US DOT Pipeline and Hazardous Materials Safety Administration, as well as other, special reports as the needs arise.
- Regulatory Representation – Assist in representation of subscribers individually and collectively in dealings with state Public Service Commissions including inspection preparation, attendance, and response, seeking uniform treatment for all subscribers with regard to inspection and enforcement. Participate in informational and trainings sessions related to proposed and new regulations.
- Systems Manuals – Assist in administration and execution of a program to train and assist subscribers in customizing SRCS master manuals to the specifics of their systems and ensuring new code requirements are integrated into their Operations & Maintenance Manuals, Procedures Manuals, Welding Manuals, Emergency Response Plans, Public Awareness Plans, Anti-Drug and Alcohol Misuse Prevention Plans, and Distribution Integrity Management Plans. Assist defined group of Subscribers with initial setup, training, customization, and content implementation and interpretation of master manuals.
- Communications – Responsible for informing a defined group of subscribers of on-going activities affecting them individually and the industry as a whole. Communication is accomplished through SRCS staff meetings, individual and group subscriber meetings, the Annual Membership Meeting, Regional Meetings, newsletter articles, and the SRCS website.
- Budgeting and Planning – Responsible for participating in the establishment of goals and objectives for the subscribed programs. Provide input for budget preparation.
- Gas Industry Associations –Participate in American Public Gas Association, Southern Gas Association, and GMA Gas Section as deemed necessary and appropriate by SRCS Manager.
- Administration – Work with other departments to keep informed of organization initiatives and directives to assist in communication to general Membership.
- Office Space – Establish and maintain office space within personal residence using furnishings, equipment, and supplies provided by the Gas Authority unless appropriate office space is identified in another location.
- Travel – Requires 60 – 80% travel consisting of day- and overnight trips; includes subscriber travel, staff meeting travel, and gas industry travel.
A Qualified Candidate Will Have the Following:
- A bachelor’s degree in Engineering or Related Technical Field, or equivalent related industry experience.
- A minimum of 5 years experience in gas distribution operations.
- Knowledge of Pipeline Safety Code and related regulations.
- Working knowledge of computer applications including Microsoft Excel, Outlook, PowerPoint, and Word; Adobe Acrobat, as well as proprietary compliance-related applications.
- Excellent oral and written communication skills.
- Excellent interpersonal skills.

Operations Trainer
The Operations Trainer position is directly responsible for coordinating and delivering natural gas pipeline safety and related training to a defined group of Gas Authority Members as part of the Gas Authority Training Program (the “Program”) using the Energy WorldNet online platform for training, evaluating, and recordkeeping. This position will also assist other Trainers serving other groups of Members that are participating in the Program.
The Program includes general natural gas training, general safety training, and natural gas Operator Qualification training and evaluating. The Program may be expanded to include non-Member SRCS Subscribers and SRCS Contractor-Subscribers.
Principle Responsibilities:
- Scheduling – Monitor training and evaluating needs of assigned Program participants and schedule dates, times, and locations for on-site or virtual sessions to review training and perform evaluations.
- Training – Review training status of assigned Program participants’ employees. Conduct onsite or virtual training sessions when necessary.
- Evaluating – Maintain authorized evaluator status with Energy WorldNet. Conduct evaluation sessions with assigned Program participants.
- Recordkeeping – Monitor training histories and OQ documentation of assigned Program participants.
- Collaboration – Meet regularly with Training Program Manager and other Trainers to discuss experiences and needs of Program participants to ensure complete, consistent, and compliant delivery of training services.
- Communications – Responsible for informing assigned Program participants of status of Program, current needs, upcoming group sessions, and other aspects of Program delivery.
- Budgeting and Planning – Responsible for participating in the establishment of goals and objectives for the training program. Provide input for budget preparation.
